Who we are/I am

My website address is: https://realoldiesradio.com. The site is privately owned and operated by Frederick R. Vobbe. This site is run as a hobby, and not to make money or receive compensation. The site is intended to disseminate ideas, projects, education, and useful hints. Occasionally you may read an opinion or thought. If you don’t agree with me, simply close the web site tab and have a nice day.

Please read the information below. (The lawyers are making me say this.)

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. If the comment is spam, it’s reported to the RBL and other sites to provide protection to honest web site owners.

If your intent is to SPAM, you are wasting your time.

Nothing will be seen by a living, breathing computer user. As of 1 July 2022, over 23,621 spams have been detected and deleted without a single human viewing the message, or knowing you sent a message. This includes posted comments, and e-mails. In other words, you’re dead to me. Good, honest people do not spam.

Those who are invited, and allowed to use this website, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. The administrator of this site has final say in what gets posted and what does not. Posting and comments are by invitation only and highly moderated.

Comments must be on the topic of DIY Audio only. Other subjects may be discarded automatically if appearing smammy. All comments are moderated by computer algorithm, and finally by a human.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Any media you upload is assumed to be your intellectual property, and not from another site. This includes content in whole, part, or edited in any way for example or citation.

You are expected to make known the auth0r, or site’s name if you are reposting someone else’s work to this site. Lack of citation may result in ghosting of the article in question.

If you take any media from this site you’re expected to not portray it as your own. If you intend to use content from this site, please include the author’s name, media address (https://realoldiesradio.com), or a link to the specific page for use or citation.

Content on this site may include invisible watermark(s) or stealth notation to identify original origin. Please do not take things from this site and place them on your/other sites pretending to be yours.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year.

If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Any data which is captured by our site is not shared with any other parties, period.

I do not collect addresses for spamming, marketing, or other nefarious activities. Information is never exchanged, traded, or sold to other parties.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Articles on this site may include links to other sites for citation, reference, or to gain further information on a topic. The owner of this site, https://realoldiesradio.com, is not responsible for content on other sites, security faults, theft of user or intellectual information. Perge periculo tuo!

Another website may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

My website may do the same, however my intent is to determine what pages are important, and what performance issues may exist in sharing our information with you. My website and I are not concerned in the least about marketing, serving up ads, or accumulating data on you.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, there must be a very good reason other than “I forgot”. You may be asked to prove to us that you are who you claim to be. Your IP address will be included in the reset email. Your privileges may be closely watched. In some cases you may need to send a small amount of money by a fund transfer service. The user name, address, e-mail address, and IP will need to match in order to facilitate a change.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).

Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Website administrators reserve the right to delete, limit, or place on a watch list any user who makes a request due to security issues.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you have an account, and have left comments which are illegal under the laws of this city, county, state, or federal jurisdiction; this site will not protect offenders and may provide information to authorities upon request by written subpoena to the site owner.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through a high aggressive, hungry, automated spam detection service with the heart of a Kraken.

Any post, or e-mail to this site, participants, or owner which is the least bit spammy, threatening, or malicious; may result in a permanent block your name, address, IP, or even service provider.

If you become threatening, malicious, advocate illegal activities, bullying, or stalking, law enforcement may be made aware of the content of messages and media without your knowledge. When in doubt, don’t.
